Miss Fort Bend, Lexa Lavender, Visited our Shops Today...

Lexa Lavender, Miss Fort Bend County, stopped by Brookwood to say hello to our citizens and sign some of her pictures for them to keep.  Lexa is currently studying Kinesiology at Houston Baptist University, and is hoping to volunteer in our Activities Department helping out with physical fitness.  Our citizens were excited to meet her, and she really enjoyed the visit.

Ballet Coming to Brookwood!

Our citizens loved the Houston Grand Opera's "Daniel and the Dreamcatcher," brought to Brookwood through their traveling program, "Opera to Go!"

The Houston Grand Opera's Traveling Troup, Opera to Go, will present Daniel and the Dreamcatcher, with Music by Sterling Tinsley, and Libretto by Kate Pogue to all of the Brookwood Citizens on Wednesday, May 22nd, at 2 p.m., in the Brookwood Cafetorium!

The story tells about Daniel, who is afraid of the giant in his closet who likes to shrink things. But when the giant shrinks his family, Daniel has to decide to be brave and confront his fears. This original story is a great way to learn about courage.

You have to stop and smell the flowers at Brookwood!

Our citizens love working at the Brookwood Cafe!  Here, Kurt serves iced tea to some visitors.

All in a day's work...our citizens worked with planting Aloe Vera today in Horticulture and our Movers group worked in the greenhouse. Spring time is fun time!

As our day citizens head home after a good day's work, our resident citizens head out for some exercise walking and riding bikes around our large grounds. We believe in interdependence and enjoy the benefits of helping each other and working together.

One of our hard workers puts the stonecasting molds back together after removing a completed design.

Our citizens in the pottery department work around the year to provide pottery place settings, ornaments, bread baskets and more to sell in our stores! Here, one of our Ceramics Teachers looks on as a citizen stencils a Bluebonnet design on a heart shaped plate.

Our citizens have been busy getting all the plants and flowers ready for our big Spring Extravaganza, going on this weekend! Here is a cross from our cement workshop with some beautiful flowers in our Retail Greenhouse, behind our Gift Shop.
