Welcome to the Cement Shop!

The Cement Shop, across from the Horticulture Department, produces cement statuary, stepping stones, bird baths and much more!  Teachers Mattie Lasker, Keelann Davis and Thurman Smith stay busy assisting citizens with all aspects of production and they have now taken on helping with some stonecasting pieces in their shop.  Below are some pictures of the Cement Shop citizens at work on stonecasting...

Jason files the rough edges of a cement pot.

Carrie puts a Stonecasting mold back together.

Wilson tightens bolts on Stonecasting mold.

John "Coach" readies a Stonecasting mold for pouring the plaster/stone mixture into it.

Bruce is ready for his next work piece!

Hillary paints the Stonecasting pieces with a white paint.

Scott is one of our citizens working in the Cement Shop.

Jenny B. enjoys her work!

Thank you Work Program Teachers!

I want everyone to know that, since requesting pictures for this BLOG from our teachers in the work program at Brookwood, I can barely post their pictures and news fast enough!  They are doing a great job of capturing our citizens at work and play and sharing them with us.

Please be sure to congratulate your teachers on their extra efforts in communicating with our families and friends!  I know it adds a little extra work to their already busy days, but their efforts are well worth it.  Just look at their great pictures...Feel free to comment on any posts you like, as well.

Thanks Teachers and keep up the great work!

Cards & Crafts - Latest and greatest pictures...

Max always does a great job flattening out the clay on the roller so it can be made into ornaments.

Otis is covering up the woven bowls we made this morning with a trash bag
to keep the moisture in the clay for a few extra days.
By doing this, Otis makes the process easy so other citizens can get the bowls cleaned
and ready to be painted/fired in the kiln!  Way to go Otis!
