Brookwood...Going Green

The Brookwood citizens thank Duke Energy, headed by Milton Howard, for helping to make Brookwood a little greener thanks to their wind turbine on campus.

Thank you Duke Energy!

Fun in the Sun

Enjoy this very short video of Teacher Taylor and Citizen Chelsea racing during break...

This is becoming a weekly tradition.
Happy Summer!

(Here's hoping that you will be able to see the video...this is my first time
 to post one taken on my iPhone, so hope it works!)

Endowment Garden Blooming

The Brookwood Endowment Garden recently has benefited from a little TLC
and many new plants!  Stop by and spend some time reflecting on a bench in the shade.

Basketball Practice in the Gym

Teresa Thomas, a valued staff member at the clinic, shared these pictures of Greg Glauser and
our citizens practicing their basketball skills earlier this summer.  I thought you would enjoy them.

Thanks Teresa!

Brookwood Citizen featured in upcoming Calendar...

Jeff Joplin, a citizen of Brookwood for 18 years, will be representing all of the amazing
artists at Brookwood in the 2015 Special Talents Calendar!  The Calendar will be available
to purchase at our Art Gallery after September 15th.  Below are Jeff and Grant Manier, the
creator of this Calendar, meeting for the first time in Mrs. Streit's office.  Grant has autism and
has channeled his love of tearing paper into amazing artworks.  He will be featured in the
2015 Calendar as will Dr. Temple Grandin.  Jeff will be showing 4 of our Comfort Bowls
that he and many of our citizens paint, on the December page of the calendar.

Brookwood Citizen Jeff Joplin and artist Grant Manier look at
a rough draft of the 2015 Special Talents Calendar.

Grant and his mother Julie Manier show Jeff his page in the upcoming Calendar.

Congratulations Jeff!
We know you will represent all of our
citizen artists well.

Project BESTT is a happening place!

 Teachers work with students every day;
Play = Better hand-eye coordination.

 "Grandpa" and Marla stop by for a visit...

and rest a bit in the lobby as they make their rounds.

Removing bolts from a stonecasting mold.

Teachers showing candles that have been packaged in Project BESTT.
