Do you remember this?

This is the "Old Farm House," from Brookwood's early days...

While this building is gone, I am pretty sure we still have the same old trees!  This will take some of you back to the origins of Brookwood, founded in 1985.

To read more about our beginnings, visit this webpage:                                                                                                   http://www.brookwoodcommunity.org/about/community-history/

Do you hear what I hear?

I hope you have all had the opportunity to hear the wonderful Brookwood Handbell Choir in performance!  Their work is so uplifting.

The Brookwood Handbell Choir at the Brookwood Worship Center.
Led by Joyce Henderson, they have performed at many venues, including at a Houston Astros game, at the Houston Symphony, at the Houston Grand Opera, at many area churches, at Brookwood (of course!) and at other locations in the Houston area.

To learn more about them, check out their webpage at:

Bees Buzz Through Brookwood Campus...

According to the Houston Chronicle, scientists are excited about bees making a comeback...We can attest to that, as we witnessed our second recent bee colony passing through the Brookwood grounds.  Here, the bees collected on an electrical box in a formation known as "bearding."  (Thanks to Brookwood Teacher
Hunter Hamilton for that term, as he showed me the latest bee colony moving through!)

Our maintenance team roped off the area to keep citizens, staff or
guests from getting too close to these travelers.

It is easy to see why this formation of passing bees is called "bearding."

and the citizens are playing an important part in that video!

The Many Jobs at Brookwood

We are dedicated to finding the best job for each citizen at Brookwood, including assisting with setting up the Cafeteria for lunch, prepping the Worship Center for weddings, helping the office staff, and - of course - working in one of our many creative enterprise shops!  Here, our guys are getting the tables set up for lunch.
