Meet Brookwood Teacher, Sterling Blodgett...

Sterling works in Brookwood’s Cards & Crafts Department (newly renamed “The Clay Shop”), helping citizens to fulfill their abilities in clay work.  He has been at Brookwood only 8 months, but is already known for his great attitude and love of his citizens.

Sterling graduated from Katy H.S. and went straight into the army for 5 years, serving in Iraq for 15 months.  After that, he attended the University of St. Thomas in Houston and received his degree in Communications there.  He learned about Brookwood when his mom volunteered here when he was young and then he also volunteered here during high school and said he “always wanted to work here after that.”

Sterling enjoys working with the citizens and says “I like it most when I can help them feel proud of what they’ve done and put a smile on their face.”  He says his position as teacher has taught him to “always put out one fire at a time and remain patient.”

He just became engaged to Amanda, his long-time girlfriend, and they are planning a wedding a year from now, in August!  Amanda works as a graphics designer in the corporate Academy office in Katy.  During his time off, Sterling enjoys spending time with Amanda, playing basketball and reading.

Sterling has been a great supporter and author for the Brookwood Blog.  Thanks for all your great work Sterling!
