Katie Thomas is a teacher in The Clay Shop, (formerly known as Cards & Crafts), at Brookwood.  She is a native of Katy, Texas, and graduated from Katy High School before attending Concordia University in Austin, Texas, where she achieved a Bachelor of Education in Director of Christian Education.  Katie is engaged to be married this next May, to Jacob Haydel, who works with computers.
After graduation from Concordia, Katie completed a one-year internship with Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy, as their Youth Director.  Following that, she was the Missions Program Coordinator at LINC Houston, a Christian non-profit organization that seeks to restore under-resourced communities.  Katie grew up visiting Brookwood with her Mom, so it was a natural fit for her to come to Brookwood as a teacher in our work program last October.

“The most motivating thing about my job is seeing my citizens’ smiles about the work they do and seeing the joy and appreciation of having a job they can do.  These things make me feel very humble and make me want to keep working with them every day,” says Katie.
Katie has two dogs, a Great Pyrenees named Quigley and a Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix named Quixote.  In her free time, she keeps busy planning her upcoming wedding (to be held in the Brookwood Worship Center!), running and spending time with her family and fiancé Jacob.

You are such a valuable asset to Brookwood, Katie!  Our citizens love the work they do in The Clay Shop!
